About The Role

We have a great opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our fast-paced and friendly Finance Department in our central Bristol offices.

Within this role, the successful candidate can expect to support a fast and well-controlled month-end ledger close process, which will include the preparation and review of journals and reconciliations. Additionally, you will provide high-quality support and advice to the broader business in respect of technical accounting matters, as well as offering proactive support of business change initiatives. You will work closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, using analytical skills to provide insightful, accurate and timely guidance and responses to queries in respect of technical accounting matters, as well as carrying out accounting investigations that may be required from time to time.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Posting and reviewing accounting entries as well as performing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, undertaking accounting analyses, and other financial control activities.
  • Using analytical skills to solve problems as they arise and continually developing processes to enhance their efficiency and control.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for external and internal auditors, providing all required information and explanations on a timely basis and preparing for audits by ensuring that robust closing control processes and audit trails exist for areas of responsibility.
  • Proactively supporting DAS UK change initiatives, which may include the ongoing integration of DAS UK and its new parent group, ARAG, as well as any other change programmes undertaken in this dynamic environment.

About You

We are keen to hear from Qualified Accountants (CIMA, ACA or equivalent) or those close to qualifying that can demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build solid working relationships both within and outside the Finance department
  • Strong Excel skills are essential, and working knowledge of SAP is preferable
  • Previous experience of month-end close culture of strict deadlines, tight financial controls and taking responsibility for quality of work produced
  • Previous experience working within the insurance industry / financial services would be highly desirable, however this is not essential
