About The Role

We’re looking for a talented Head of Internal Audit to hold responsibility for the Internal Audit Function for the ARAG UK Group.
 
Within this varied role, you'll hold responsibility for establishing, implementing and maintaining an audit plan to examine and evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of the firms processes and controls. In addition, you'll look to submit audit reports including recommendations based on the result of work carried out to the Board Audit Committee, as well as perform follow up assessments on recommendations made within audit reports.

Due to the nature of the role, it is key that you hold excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to build established and trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will look to ensure your demonstrable expertise in the subject matter and best practice is communicated clearly and effectively, ensuring that Internal Audit activities are undertaken in accordance with Global Internal Audit Standards and ARAG Group Internal Audit frameworks.

The role holder will need to satisfy UK regulatory requirements for SMF5 Head of Internal Audit.

About You

We are keen to hear from candidates with Internal Audit professional designation (CIA, CMIIA) or other relevant professional education, certifications, and credentials. You'll have experience building and/or managing an effective internal audit function by recruiting, hiring, and training internal auditors and helping them develop relevant competencies. It is advantageous that you have previous experience in a managerial role. 
 
In addition, the ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Global Internal Audit Standards and leading internal audit practices.
  • Effective senior stakeholder management skills demonstrating empathy and active listening, negotiation skills and conflict management.
  • Experience presenting to Executive Management and/or Board/Board Committee(s).
  • Experience working in financial services (ideally insurance) and knowledge of FCA/PRA regulatory requirements.
  • Good knowledge of risk management and internal controls frameworks and approaches.
  • Leadership experience.
