About The Role

ARAG UK Group is looking for a proactive and analytical Senior Internal Auditor to join their high profile team in Bristol. Reporting directly to the Head of Internal Audit, the Senior Internal Auditor is primarily responsible for delivering high quality independent Internal Audits, based upon the annual audit plan.

The Internal Audit function have a key role in providing assurance and insight to Senior Management and the Board Audit Committee and work across the business involving interactions at all levels of the organisation.

The role also has autonomy to be involved in other Internal Audit functional activities, such as the annual planning process and preparation of Committee and other reporting packs.

Some responsibilities of the role include:

  • Actively contribute to the development of the annual audit plan, the strategy for developing the Internal Audit function and the development of individual internal audit plans including setting the audits scope, objective and timing.
  • Develop a risk-based audit / work programme and produce high quality working papers and audit reports for assigned audits, including undertaking audit testing to evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of controls.
  • Communicate with management throughout the audit engagement, including communication of audit findings.
  • Build effective relationships at all levels in the organisation, including demonstrating professional scepticism and challenging management.

About You

We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate:

  • A background in assurance (internal audit, internal controls or external audit) with experience in controls testing;
  • A professional audit or accounting qualification (e.g. ACA/IIA);
  • Experience of engaging with senior stakeholders;
  • Experience of working under own initiative;
  • Excellent planning and prioritisation skills; and
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft packages (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

It is desirable but not essential if you have:

  • Experience within an Internal Audit role and good knowledge of Internal Audit standards and practices;
  • Financial Services experience (highly advantageous);
  •  Knowledge of data, technology and / or statistical and modelling techniques; and
  • Experience of process mapping and use of relevant software
