About The Role

DAS UK Group, a market leading insurance and legal services provider, has an exciting opportunity for a Customer and Legal Solutions Controller to join the Finance department. This is a full time, permanent position based at our head office in the heart of central Bristol.

Working with the Customer and Legal Solutions Director and their teams to deliver financial information and insight, the successful candidate will be the single point of contact for all Finance and Customer and Legal Solutions (C&LS) related decisions and requests for analysis. As a result, we are looking for candidates that are able to develop good relationships across the business and who have the confidence to be able to support and challenge the heads of department.

In addition to the above, the successful applicant can expect to:

  • Support and appropriately challenge the Heads of C&LS department in preparation of their business performance assessments and future outlooks;
  • Oversee and validate the DAS Law accounts demonstrating both accounting capability and interpretation;
  • Support the COFA in financial matters and provide a link between C&LS team and the Finance function;
  • Advise on the strategy, plan and key performance indicators for C&LS, based on functional insight and market trends;
  • Focus on the effectiveness of the Finance functions and improve the business performance through influencing positive changes to process improvements, communications, systems and structures, improving knowledge sharing and building capability within the business; and
  • Contribute to the wider Business Reporting and Controlling agenda as well as overall Finance community.
About You

This position would suit somebody with an accountancy background and previous experience of working in a law firm environment. 

Essential skills/knowledge/experience:

  • Experience in planning/forecasting and financial performance management in a law firm or legal environment;
  • Ideally 5+ years PQE ACCA/CIMA or similar, but experience working in a law firm or legal environment is essential.
  • Good communication and relationship building skills;
  • Experience in an insurance industry will be considered an advantage but not essential.
