About The Role

We are recruiting for a Compliance Officer to join our team in central Bristol on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. This role is primarily to support our DAS Legal Expenses Insurance Company Limited (DAS LEI), a dual-regulated firm within the DAS UK Group. DAS UK Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ERGO Group, which in turn is part of the Munich Re Group.

DAS LEI operates a traditional three lines of defence model. This role will sit in the Second Line of Defence and provides advice and guidance to the First Line of Defence and assurance to Group Senior Management and the Boards. The ideal candidate will have good experience of working within the Second Line of Defence.

As an integral member of the team you will work with colleagues from across the DAS UK Group to ensure that business activity and decision making reflects the expectations of the Regulators, the Shareholder and the Board. To achieve this, you will provide insight, advice and assurance to the DAS UK Group, with a focus on operating as a Compliance Business Partner to parts of our business.

This is a Senior Technical Role and as such you will be expected to exercise judgement and discretion on the regulatory topics within your remit. Whilst we would want someone with broad awareness of regulatory expectation across the spectrum of compliance topics, we are particularly interested in hearing from candidates with demonstrable compliance experience in:

  • Insurance distribution requirements and practices (either from a product provider or product distributor perspective);
  • Anti-bribery and corruption;
  • Conflicts of interest.
About You

In addition to the above, we are looking for applicants who can demonstrate:

  • Track record of self-development in order to enhance their skills and knowledge and keep up to date with regulatory developments
  • Evidence of delivering activity across the compliance life-cycle, including the ability to work across the lines of defence to uphold standards of compliance and deliver good customer outcomes;
  • The ability to interpret and communicate regulatory expectation in a clear an unambiguous manner to stakeholders and produce evidenced-based opinions;
  • The ability to act as trusted advisor to business leaders including providing appropriate challenge to their decision making;
  • Analytical and research skills with the ability to turn information into insight and deliver this with professionalism and authority; and
  • Evidence of maintaining a healthy balance between work-life and home-life that demonstrates an ability to manage competing demands in an effective manner.

Whilst this is a full-time role, we are happy to consider flexible or part-time working arrangements.
