About The Role

We have a new opportunity for an Associate to join our Litigation and Dispute Management department based at the DAS UK Group Head Office in the heart of Bristol. 

The Litigation and Dispute Management Team (LDM) comprises over 40 solicitors, paralegals and support staff and is led by a Legal 500 and Chambers rated partner. This is a great opportunity to join a hard-working and friendly team which lives the DAS values with a dedication to mutual respect, continuous improvement and client care. 

As an Associate you can expect to handle a caseload of complex and varied property cases predominately on the Fast/Multi Track. In addition, you will review and evaluate property claims consisting mainly of damage, nuisance and trespass for prospects of success and to negotiate and litigate claims through the civil courts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage a caseload of property litigation files from start to finish with a good degree of autonomy;
  • be familiar with running claims, defending claims for property damage, nuisance and trespass;
  • assess prospects of success of property claims initially and on an ongoing basis;
  • negotiate claims to a successful outcome through the most efficient and economic means;
  • take responsibility for all aspects of file administration and financial hygiene with the help and support of the Legal Assistant function;
  • take personal ownership of customer problems until resolved, ensuring that a high standard of service is provided to the client at all times;
  • undertake reasonable tasks as instructed by the Senior Associate and assist the Head of Department and leadership team as required;
  • be adaptable at fostering and growing lasting client relationships through the delivery of consistent client service excellence; and
  • be willing to take on wider roles such as internal training, client presentations and other forms of business development.

About You

As a result, we are looking for applicants who have good written and verbal communication skills, accurate and concise letter writing abilities, a confident telephone manner and the ability to engage with and work as part of a larger team to ensure a seamless customer experience.

We would like to hear from solicitors or candidates with equivalent qualifying experience who have:

  • Ideally between 3 and 5 years’ experience of working within property litigation;
  • a comprehensive working knowledge of property law and civil procedures;
  • an excellent understanding of legal terminology process and the underlying law; and
  • knowledge of landlord/tenant litigation experience is desirable but not essential.
