About The Role

Our Personal Injury team is looking to further bolster its expertise and capabilities and is seeking candidates for the role of Senior Associate to join the Multi Track team in central Bristol.

The department currently consists of around 80 solicitors, legal executives, paralegals and legal assistants. We work in a friendly and vibrant atmosphere, whilst ensuring our clients are provided with the best possible service with each member of staff being given early responsibility for their own caseload with structured supervision and support to enable individual development

As a Senior Associate you will be part of one of the biggest claimant departments in the region and will assist and support the Team Leader in the management of the Multi Track team. In addition, you can expect to:

  • Handle a caseload of complex RTA/EL/PL multi track value claims involving liability, causation and quantum disputes;
  • Assist to review quantum advice of team members as required by the team leader;
  • Carry out monthly one to one meetings for legal assistants and paralegals in the team;
  • Assist with the supervision and development of team members;
  • Assist the team leader with client complaints, cost review and reaching a team cost target;
  • Help to ensure that settled cases are costed and closed in a timely manner;
  • Deputise for the team leader as and when appropriate;
  • Assist with professional development of the team, sharing knowledge of best practice;
  • Take responsibility for team settlements, case closures and team financial housekeeping;
  • Assess prospects of success;
  • Submit files for closure when appropriate;
  • Supervise quantum and prospects of success;
  • Review medical evidence and quantify General and Special Damages;
  • Draft Schedules of Past and Future Losses, to include care statements;
  • Record time appropriately and maximise costs recovery;
  • Ensure that all limitation dates and Court deadlines are complied with and properly diarised; and
  • Provide high quality and efficient customer service involving liaising with external clients, Court Members and Solicitors.

About You
We are looking for qualified solicitors or FILEXs who can work in a busy fast-paced environment and who have:
  • Demonstrable experience of handling a caseload in a multi track team environment, including litigated case experience;
  • An ability to build supportive and collaborative relationships with the team leader and members of the team under their supervision;
  • Evidence of providing technical supervision to colleagues;
  • Excellent legal analytical skills;
  • Knowledge of litigation tactics and an understanding of the Code of Rehabilitations required;
  • Experience of dealing with complaints both over the telephone and in writing;
  • Knowledge of Civil Procedure Rules relevant to Personal Injury claims; and 
  • A strong understanding of compliance issues and an awareness of the requirements of the SRA Code of Conduct.
