About The Role

We are recruiting for a Claims Handler to join DAS UK Group, a market leading insurer and legal services provider, in our Bedwas office (Caerphilly) on a full time permanent basis.

The quality of our people defines the quality of the company and the standard of service we offer. We are therefore looking for like-minded individuals to help us implement a claims strategy, proactively manage a claims workload and make timely decisions to settle claims for customers and DAS in a fair and reasonable way.

.As a Claims Handler you will be:

  • Providing a good quality customer service and ensuring claims decisions are made in a timely, fair and reasonable way;
  • responsible for consistently maintaining high levels of service delivery and customer engagement and contribute to ensure personal, team and department KPIs and SLAs are met;
  • assessing claims by demonstrating an understanding of our policy wording on our products to be able to communicate any decisions (training will be provided on our policy wording);
  • ensuring all communication internally and externally is clear, accurate and customer friendly;
  • instructing solicitors in accordance with our policy terms and conditions and ensuring that claims sent to solicitors are managed efficiently and effectively;
  • responsible for understanding what constitutes a complaint and acting swiftly to resolve with the aim of rebuilding the customer relationship;
  • identifying when escalation is necessary and to whom, ensuring relevant information is provided to enable discussion/decision making along with suggestions/views on how to proceed; 
  • proactive in identifying situations where a decision is required to act promptly;
  • organising workloads in an effective and efficient way and keeping accurate records using appropriate system and Claims processes and practices; and
  • ensuring any cost recovery is highlighted and establishing any adverse costs liability, dealing with excess/policy contribution refunds.

As a Claims Handler you will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Experience in a claims environment and/or graduate level and/or customer facing retail environment desirable;
  • strong customer focus and claims handling background;
  • good customer service and an understanding of its impact;
  • strong prioritisation skills;
  • the ability to communicate at all levels and in all formats in a clear, practical and informative way;
  • the ability to deliver high quality performance against challenging KPIs and SLAs;
  • a desire to improve and take ownership of your own personal development; and
  • an aptitude to work with different computer and telephony packages.
