About The Role

We have a new opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst to join the team of a market leading insurer and legal services provider, DAS UK Group, on an 8 month Fixed Term Contract based in central Bristol.

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will be responsible for developing models to support a variety of actuarial tasks, which could include reserving, monitoring, capital and regulatory. In addition you can expect to:  

  • Support key processes of reserving, capital and regulation through: capital modelling; capital allocation; claims and exposure data analysis; claims and exposure monitoring; financial reporting; pricing adequacy; forecasting; and writing technical reports;
  • uphold the departmental quality procedures through selection of actuarial techniques and production of documentation;
  • contribute to the monitoring and maintenance of controls on departmental risks;
  • review the work of other team members;
  • develop own skills and knowledge continuously; and
  • contribute to the operation of the 2nd line Actuarial Function through the investigations carried out.
About You

We are looking for candidates (ideally a part-qualified actuary) that can demonstrate: 

  • Strong skills in numeracy and accuracy;
  • experience of Excel (to an advanced level) and mathematical or statistical software is highly desirable;
  • the ability to cover a range of actuarial disciplines and communicate clearly and productively within and outside the team;
  • an understanding of the theoretical basis of the techniques used (a degree in a subject with high mathematical or statistical content is highly desirable);
  • the ability to formulate practical solutions to problems;
  • previous experience of actuarial work in general insurance is advantageous, although full on-the-job training will be provided; and
  • the ability to work on concurrent tasks and communicate technical work to the team and to others in the business.
