About The Role

We are looking for an Actuarial Consultant to join the team of a market leading insurer and legal services provider, DAS UK Group. You will be responsible for being the voice of the DAS UK Actuarial function on pricing, underwriting performance and corporate planning assumptions by developing and co-ordinating actuarial models and opinions.

As an Actuarial Consultant you will:

  • Measure exposure to insurance risk and predict the cost of claims using actuarial techniques
  • Provide input to pricing models and commercial proposals led by other teams whilst making appropriate recommendations
  • Identify special investigations that may be required and subsequently lead or carry out those investigations
  • Develop constructive working relationships with stakeholders from Finance, Risk, Underwriting, Pricing, Claims and senior management at levels ranging from technical to strategic
  • Communicate on technical topics at an appropriate level for a varying audience
  • Form an independent opinion on product performance, providing a basis for actuarial model assumptions used in reserving and solvency
  • Review critically the assumptions proposed for use in corporate planning
  • Supervise the work of other team members and help them to develop their skills
About You

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • The ability to form a well justified, independent view, communicate it clearly and defend it in response to challenges
  • Strong knowledge of non-life actuarial techniques including pricing
  • Innovation in modelling techniques
  • Professional scepticism
  • Qualified or part-qualified actuary (desired)
