About The Role

DAS UK Group is recruiting for an Actuarial Reserving & Monitoring Manager to join our busy Actuarial department, reporting directly to the Chief Actuary. The core responsibility of this role is to lead the assessment and reporting of claims reserves by monitoring and analysing exposure and claims experience. This is a key role in our business and involves regular contact with senior leaders as well as experts from technical and operational functions.

As a Reserving & Monitoring Manager you will:

  • Recommend the level of claims reserves to be held and investigate the suitability of other technical reserves.
  • Create and develop processes and models to allow timely and accurate submission of financial results, adhering to governing laws, company policies and professional standards.
  • Predict the cost of insurance risk using actuarial techniques.
  • Act as line manager to a team of actuarial specialists, guiding their professional development and assisting with the development of others in the team.
  • Monitor developments in legislation, group guidance and actuarial standards; co-ordinate impact analysis and adoption; monitor adherence; educate members of the department.
  • Control insurance risk by monitoring exposure and claims performance, ensuring that the results are then embedded into processes owned by and information consumed by the risk-bearing areas of the business.
  • Liaise with internal, Group and external auditors, implementing recommended actions as required.
About You

We are looking for candidates who are Fellows of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent and who have:

  • The ability to form a well justified, independent actuarial view, communicate it clearly and defend it in response to challenges.
  • The ability to build good working relationships with a wide range of DAS UK stakeholders from different disciplines, as well as ERGO and Munich Re Group functions.
  • Team leadership experience.
  • Deep knowledge of non-life actuarial modelling, including reserving.
  • Ability to innovate in actuarial techniques.
