About The Role

We are recruiting for a Principal Associate to join our Personal Injury department at DAS Law on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract. Based in central Bristol, this is a great opportunity to join an ambitious and innovative law firm. Working closely with the Head of Personal Injury and as a critical part of the overall DAS Law Leadership team, this role will take an operational lead on the RTA, EL/PL fixed fee regime, multi-track claims and damage-only motor claims litigation.

The role will involve the monitoring of service standards, professional compliance obligations and client care, together with operational management within the department. Whilst the role does not have a direct fee earning responsibility, the successful candidate should have experience of personal injury claims handling.

As a Principal Associate you can expect to:

  • Have line management responsibility for the Claims Support team who service the central reception line for the law firm, administrative tasks, and are the initial customer facing team for all motor claims;
  • Have operational management responsibility for the department’s graduate academy;
  • Be responsible for the department’s costs performance;
  • Consult and have responsibility for driving change to claims handling models to improve efficiencies;
  • Deal with complaints at first tier and provide an appeal function under the company’s complaints procedure;
  • Act as a referral point for resolving compliance queries and Code of Conduct issues;
  • Liaise with the firm’s Compliance Officer and take the lead on complaint audit;
  • Build strong relationships with business partners and attend quarterly review meetings as required;
  • Develop strong relationship with colleagues within DAS Legal Expenses and attend meetings to improve collaboration and efficiencies across the group;
  • Consult and play an active part in the design and implementation of policies and procedures within the wider department and wider business;
  • Build strong operational relationships with all suppliers and monitor their performance and have accountability for the financial management and reconciliation of those supplier relationships which include medical agencies, chambers and other relevant suppliers;
  • Consult and lead on a training plan for the department and have the responsibility for co-ordinating the training needs for the all teams;
  • Be accountable for the department’s induction programme and operational elements for new starters/leavers; and
  • Carry out data analysis with the ability to adapt and manipulate MI to support all team leaders.
About You
 We are looking for candidates that can demonstrate:
  • Excellent knowledge of personal injury claims and the Claims Portal, together with the best practice of running more complicated multi-track claims;
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to engage and motivate teams to achieve collective high performance;
  • Strong technical experience in the analysis of MI, financial reporting and other reporting metrics;
  • Good technical knowledge of the claims handling process for non-personal injury claims and both FT and MT claims handling in EL/PL and motor claims;
  • A proven track record of managing people with the experience of developing individuals to achieve their full potential;
  • A proven track record of managing supplier relationships, tenders and financial reconciliation of those supplier accounts at an operational level;
  • Detailed knowledge of all regulatory issues, compliance and the Code of Conduct;
  • Excellent keyboard skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office (to include Word. Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel);
  • Excellent working knowledge of case management systems/processes; and
  • Experience and ability to analyse P&L accounts and experience of making significant efficiency savings and managing cost/budgets.
