About The Role

DAS UK Group is looking for a Software Engineer on a full time permanent basis in central Bristol.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building user interfaces and business and integration services to support the delivery of new business capabilities. You will work closely with the in-house Architecture Team, Development Technical Lead and the IT Operations team to ensure solutions are designed and built to be fit for purpose and that meet business and operational requirements.

As a Software Engineer will deliver solutions to the DAS defined Solution Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC) and governance, and ensure all project gateways are passed. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with other members of the IT Department as well as the Project & Change Management and Information Management and Business Intelligence teams.

 As a Software Engineer you will:

  • Provide both high level and detailed estimates to enable accurate delivery plans and pipelines to be produced and maintained;
  • Design, develop and test IT solutions for user and customer facing web application and business and integration services;
  • Build solutions within estimate tolerance and in line with the published development life cycle (SDLC);
  • Provide support for existing applications and external customers as required;
  • Ensure solutions meet defined standards;
  • Provide quality assurance for peer work;
  • Be able to interact professionally with a diverse group including; executives, managers and subject matter experts;
  • Input into the technical solution design and technical specification as required;
  • Deliver IT solutions to meet project requirements and to a standard dictated by the QA team in line with the agreed project process and IT SDLC; and
  • Contribute as part of a team to get maximum effectiveness from the IT Department.
About You

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • 1-3 years of software development experience in a professional environment;
  • Experience of developing full- stack software applications;
  • Demonstrable experience in core Java;
  • Experience in service oriented architecture concepts such as REST, XSD, XML parsing and Web Services client and service development;  
  • Knowledge and understanding of frameworks.

The candidate ideally, will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of integration via an ESB;
  • Knowledge of NoSQL databases;
  • Knowledge of Software Delivery Life Cycle and Agile practices;
  • Delivery of complex solutions to time and budget; and
  • Previous experience of working in a financial services and/or regulated industry
