About The Role

We are recruiting for a Telephony & Data Centre Infrastructure Engineer to join DAS UK Group in central Bristol on a full time, permanent basis. The Telephony & Data Centre Infrastructure (DC) Engineering team delivers a stable and compliant, cost effective and fit for purpose data centre infrastructure, upon which runs the business applications used by the DAS enterprise.

Your main tasks will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Taking technical ownership and accountability for the performance of the key technologies assigned to the role and supporting the other team members in the operation of all other technologies within the Date Centre team remit;
  • Producing infrastructure solutions for a variety of systems, including live, test and development environments;
  • Configuring, testing, documenting and maintaining virtual systems including VMware, vSphere ESXi/vCenter and Hyper-V technologies; and
  • Configuring and maintaining infrastructure maintenance and support tools including security patching, system auditing and configuration management tools.
About You

In addition, we are looking for candidates that can demonstrate:

  • Strong stakeholder management skills through both written and oral communication;
  • An inquisitorial and problem solving mind set, providing exceptional service delivery to all users within DAS;
  • Experience in supporting and maintaining relevant technologies within the Data Centre predominately involving VMware-based Virtual Server Infrastructure, Windows Active Directory, iSeries mainframe, SIP/IP Telephony Infrastructure, MPLS (WAN);
  • Excellent understanding of designing, implementing and maintaining storage solutions (SAN);
  • Experience with Windows Server 2008 and 2012, using Active Directory and other care networking technologies such as Group Policy Management, DHCP and DNS;
  • Demonstrable experience in designing, implementing and maintaining Infrastructure Automation capabilities using enterprise tools (for example any one of PowerShell, Chef, Puppet or Ansible);
  • An ability to inspire trust in relationships within the DAS UK Group and with external parties to facilitate the delivery of a stable, compliant data centre infrastructure;
  • Great troubleshooting skills and a good understanding of root cause analysis methodology;
  • Strong end to end infrastructure stack understanding;
  • Fluency in reading log files and network traces to troubleshoot complex technical issues;
  • Experience of supporting a Windows 2016 server estate;
  • Experience in supporting and maintaining an Enterprise Telephony environment including Contact Centre (Front office and back office) use cases;
  • A Working knowledge of SQL Server;
  • Working knowledge of JBoss environment;
  • Working knowledge of administering Linux-based operating systems (Red Hat family of OSes).

It is desirable but not essential for the successful candidate to have:

  • Financial services industry experience;
  • Formal VMware Training;
  • Experience of administering and supporting VDI environments (preferable based on VMWare Horizon but any platform experience is advantageous);
  • ITIL foundation certification;
  • Enterprise experience of administering all common OS environments including Microsoft, Linux, Unix-type and MacOS; and
  • Experience in administering and supporting Avaya/Verint i360 based telephony environment.
