About The Role

DAS UK Group is a specialist Legal Expenses Insurer and part of ERGO Group, one of the major Insurance Groups in Europe. As well as insurance, DAS group also provides Legal services through DAS Law.

We are making significant investment in our Information Management capabilities as part of our Business Transformation plans and as such we are developing a new “Centre of Excellence” for Business Intelligence and Data Governance.

We are looking for a Data Governance Specialist to join the Information Management Team and support our transformation. If you are a DG professional and looking to join a growing Information Management Team, please get in touch.

As the Data Governance Specialist you will be:

  • Working with the Data Governance (DG) Manager and associated stakeholders such as IT security, Compliance and Regulation to ensure all required Data and Information policies are identified, new policies are documented, Document and Policy owners are identified and RACI is clear. Highlight areas for improvement;
  • Proactively communicating and distributing relevant policies to IT SME’s, Business SME’s, Data Stewards and Data Owners where appropriate;
  • Driving cultural change and embedding DG best practice within Business and IT teams, establishing process by which DG issues can be logged, prioritised, monitored and managed.
  • A proactive member/leader within the DG Community;
  • Scheduling annual reviews of all Data and Information policies ensuring content/owners and distribution lists are fit for purpose, aligning with ERGO / MRE where appropriate;
  • Working with the DG Manager to ensure all  internal processes for DG management are documented and efficient, supporting the creation and updating of the DG policy, approach, delivery roadmaps and strategy; and
  • Working with Business Data owners and IT application owners to identify key Master data, update the Data asset register and develop a high level Enterprise data model in collaboration with the DWH Team and IT SME’s.
About You

We are looking for candidates that have:

  • Hands on experience of working within an MI, DG or BI Team as an active member of the technical delivery capability;
  • An understanding of Data Governance Strategy, IM Strategy, DG best practices and principles;
  • An awareness of DAMA framework and other DG frameworks;
  • Good all round and hands on BI knowledge and skills specifically dimensional and relational data, master data management and end to end data management processes;
  • Experience of capturing, understanding and managing Business requests, root cause analysis and navigating both technical and non-technical elements of Data Governance.
