About The Role

We have a new opportunity to join DAS Law as an Associate  on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract in the Personal Injury department, one of the biggest claimant departments in the region. The range of work covered in the department is varied and divided across our four dedicated teams – Motor Portal, Fast-Track Litigation, Non-Motor and Multi-Track Unit.

In this role you will be part of our Multi Track team based in central Bristol and will be responsible for running a caseload of complex multi track personal injury claims including; RTA, Occupiers Liability, Employers Liability and Public Liability.  

Your main tasks will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Reviewing cases upon transfer and assessing the prospects of the claim succeeding;
  • obtaining evidence (including medical evidence) to address complex issues;
  • making initial contact with clients on receiving initial instructions;
  • assessing prospects of success on each claim allocated to you;
  • submitting files for closure when appropriate, if for example, there is no prospect of success;
  • ensuring that proper attendance notes are kept of all telephone calls handled and of all perusals;
  • assessing quantum and prospects of success for cases under your conduct;
  • recording time appropriately and maximising costs recovery;
  • taking all steps to bring claims to a successful conclusion promptly and in accordance with the Claims Handling model if appropriate;
  • complying with the company’s closure procedure at the completion of a claim;
  • ensuring that all limitation dates and Court deadlines are complied with and properly diarised; and
  • assisting other Fee Earners and your Team Leader as directed from time to time by your supervising Team Leader.
About You

We would like to hear from solicitors or candidates with equivalent qualifying experience, who are looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, modern and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of handling your own caseload in a team environment consisting of non-litigated and litigated Claimant personal injury cases;
  • demonstrable experience of handling Employers Liability, Occupiers Liability, Public Liability and RTA cases (predominately motorcycle accident claims).
  • experience of handling cases in which liability is denied, there are high Client Care issues and complaints generated transfers ;
  • a good working knowledge of the CPR and litigation tactics, as well as the ability to run a caseload containing a high proportion of litigated cases; and
  • knowledge of LVI and Fraud RTA claims (desirable).
