About The Role

We are recruiting for a Paralegal on a 12 month fixed term contract to be part of the DAS Law Personal Injury team in Bristol. The team comprises of a Senior Associate who has responsibility for 13 fee earners and a fee earner support.  The team is focussed on litigating cases where it has not been possible to reach a settlement with the Third Party Insurer, or cases involving complexity. These files need to be assessed for merit and quantum, progressed to litigation and settlement thereafter.

Your main tasks will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Running a case load of small claims, fast track and multi-track litigation files in relation to uninsured losses, insurer subrogated loss and hire charges arising from road traffic accidents;
  • dealing with claims covering both fast track and multi-track values with the majority of the caseload being of fast track value;
  • assessing prospects of success (whether in relation to liability or quantum disputes); and demonstrating the ability to successfully conclude the dispute whilst bearing proportionality in mind.
About You

We would like to hear from solicitors or candidates with equivalent experience, who are looking for a new challenge in a fast-paced, modern and supportive environment.

As a key member of the team you will have:

  • At least 1 years’ experience working within a volume litigation environment, with experience of pursuing hire claims;
  • demonstrable experience of handling both fast track and multi-track claims to trial, including dealing with costs budgeting, advocacy (such as case management hearings) and enforcement;
  • the ability to take on a case load of existing claims some of which will be litigated and be able to demonstrate experience of handling a challenging caseload;
  • good knowledge of CPR and litigation tactics, with the ability to adopt to the changing nature of litigated work;
  • an excellent understanding of relevant statutory provisions and case law in respect of liability and quantum, particularly around the quantification on hire claims; and
  • excellent organisational and deadline management skills.
