About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join our Personal Injury team based in Bristol on a permanent basis. As a Paralegal you will be responsible for handling a caseload of RTA injury claims which will be made up of a mixture of MOJ portal personal injury claims from inception to completion.

The personal injury department at DAS Law is one of the biggest claimant departments in the region.  The range of work covered in the department is varied and divided across our four dedicated teams – Motor Portal, Fast-Track Litigation, Non-Motor and Multi-Track Unit.

As a Paralegal, your main tasks will include:

  • Handling a case load of MOJ Portal personal injury claims from inception to completion with minimal supervision by taking all steps to bring claims to a successful conclusion;
  • reviewing cases upon initial receipt, assessing quantum and the prospects of success of the claim;
  • making initial contact with clients on receiving initial instructions;
  • assessing a client’s injuries and arranging medical appointments with experts;
  • arranging treatment and quantifying claims upon receipt of the relevant evidence;
  • preparing papers for Stage 3 Hearings and Infant Approval
  • submitting files for closure when appropriate –if, for example, there is no prospect of success;
  • reviewing special damages and ensuring that appropriate evidence is obtained;
  • ensuring that paper and electronic files are maintained in a good secure order;
  • recording time appropriately and maximising costs recovery;
  • handling claims to a successful conclusion promptly and in accordance with the Claims Handling Model if appropriate;
  • ensuring that proper attendance notes are kept of all telephone calls and perusals handled by you and that all attendance notes are made promptly;
  • complying with the Company’s closure procedure at the completion of a claim; and
  • ensuring limitation dates and Court deadlines are complied with and diarised appropriately.
About You

As a key member of the team you will have:

  • Experience handling your own case load of Claimant personal injury cases in a legal or insurance environment;   
  • procedural knowledge and practical experience of handling a case load of MOJ portal personal injury claims which arise out of road traffic accidents, to include motor cycle accident claims;
  • excellent client care skills;
  • knowledge of CFA funding and ATE insurance (desirable); and
  • knowledge of LVI and Fraud RTA claims (advantageous).
