About The Role

We are recruiting for a Motor Claims Handler to join DAS UK Group, a market leading insurer and legal services provider, on a part time basis (21 hours) in our Bedwas office. The successful candidate will be required to implement the claims strategy and proactively manage a claims workload from first notification to settlement.

.As a Motor Claims Handler you will be:

  • Providing a good quality customer service and ensuring claims decisions are made in a timely, fair and reasonable way;
  • responsible for consistently maintaining high levels of service delivery and customer engagement and contribute to ensure personal, team and department KPIs and SLAs are met;
  • manage the customer experience throughout the life of the claim in an efficient and cost effective way;
  • assessing claims by demonstrating an understanding of our policy wording on our products to be able to communicate any decisions;
  • appointing litigators by demonstrating an understanding of the working together document and its key principles; freedom of choice and the benefits of using our preferred firms and how the different handling models operate;
  • ensuring all communication internally and externally is clear, accurate and customer friendly, using the appropriate format and tone;
  • ensuring solicitors are instructed in accordance with our policy terms and conditions and that claims sent to solicitors are managed efficiently and effectively;
  • responsible for understanding what constitutes a complaint and act swiftly to resolve with the aim of rebuilding the customer relationship;
  • identifying when escalation is necessary and to whom, ensuring relevant information is provided to enable discussion/decision making along with suggestions/views on how to proceed;
  • understanding the principles of influencing others with some ability to use negotiation techniques; 
  • proactive in identifying situations where a decision is required to act promptly;
  • organising workloads in an effective and efficient way and keep accurate records using appropriate system and Claims processes and practices (e.g. Discus coding); and
  • ensuring any cost recovery is highlighted and establish any adverse costs liability, dealing with excess/policy contribution refunds.

As a Motor Claims Handler you will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Experience in a claims environment and/or graduate level and/or customer facing retail environment desirable;
  • ability to communicate at all levels and on all formats in a clear, practical and informative way.
  • strong customer focus and claims handling background;
  • good customer service and an understanding of its impact;
  • strong prioritisation skills;
  • the ability to communicate at all levels and in all formats in a clear, practical and informative way;
  • the ability to deliver high quality performance against challenging KPIs and SLAs;
  • a desire to improve and take ownership of your own personal development; and
  • an aptitude to work with different computer and telephony packages
