About The Role

DAS UK Group, a market-leading insurance and legal services provider, has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Costs Draftsman to join our claims department. Dealing with claims for costs payable from our customers’ indemnity, you will be responsible for carrying out cost assessments, ensuring appointed solicitors and adverse costs are correctly claimed in accordance with our customer’s policy of insurance.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills are key to this position as you will work closely with our external costs firms and build and maintain good relationships with panel solicitors, ensuring regular dialogue and adherence to service expectations.

As a subject matter expert for the cost team and wider business, you can expect to assist with costs queries, identifying knowledge gaps and providing solutions.

About You

We would like to hear from law graduates, solicitors, costs lawyers or those who have experience of working in a costs or legal environment for a minimum of two years, dealing with different types of legal matters.

It is important that the successful applicant has an understanding of costs industry regulations, Civil Procedure Rules and specifically the Costs Practices Directions and relevant case law, and can demonstrate:

  • Excellent core abilities including, communication, numeracy, literacy and computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • The ability to work under pressure and deliver high quality performance against challenging deadlines, KPI’s, targets and SLA’s.
  • The ability to work in a team environment, but in the main autonomously and to proactively manage your own caseload to a high standard.
  • A proved desire to improve and take ownership of your own personal development and the development of others within the team and wider business.
