The Technical Claims Manager has leadership and oversight of the technical capabilities of the claims proposition and performance for all products with a specialism in Employment claims.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring and identifying claims leakage, spend, trends and pro-actively seeking areas for development and where customer outcomes could be improved. This role will require collaboration at all levels sharing knowledge, information and supporting business propositions regarding the technical aspects of the claims proposition to the relevant areas of the business, ensuring that all business areas are aware of trends, environmental and legislative impacts.

In this varied role, in addition to the above, your day-to-day duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Supporting the Head of Technical Claims to ensure that the claims proposition is market leading and provides great service and fair value for customers, whilst balancing the need to be financially prudent and commercially aware.
  • Identifying claim trends, risks and impact, providing technical guidance on appropriate initiatives to counter the situation.
  • Ensuring business and quality objectives are obtained by facilitating process improvement through open communication, root-cause analysis and fact-based decision making.
  • Overseeing complex and high risk claims, providing an escalation point for Manager, Team Leaders and Claims Technicians for key decisions and referrals outside of their claims licence.
  • Driving claims handling performance though auditing, coaching and appropriate technical oversight of claims and claims decisions. Identify potential ways to improve the claims handling process.
  • Providing technical input into training materials, technical training delivery and provide subject matter expertise when required.
  • Assuming ownership of technical claims, identifying business risks, customer outcomes risks and escalating or inquiring about risk management concerns to second line of defence.
About You

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a high level of technical competence gained through working in a claims environment, or in employment law, idieally in conjunction with insurer, and will have excellent knowledge and understanding of legal principles, policy wording and market practice.

As well as technical experience and ability, we are looking for exceptional communicators with proven leadership skills, who are ambitious and forward looking to drive improvements and make a positive impact on the business. As this role will be evenly split between claims operations and liaising with teams in the wider business such as underwriting, sales, compliance and business support; relationship building and influencing skills are paramount to the role.

The successful candidate will demonstrate that they are outcome focused, self-motivated, enthusiastic and energetic with a passion for delivery.
