DAS UK Group has an opportunity for an Actuarial Consultant to join the Actuarial team, part of the wider Finance function. This role has a particular focus on representing Actuarial in corporate planning and pricing proposals, as well as carrying out investigations in line with the regulatory responsibilities of the function. It is a business-facing role that requires both technical skill and the ability to strike a balance between collaborative working and independent challenge.
In this role you can expect to create and assure the quality of actuarial models, but also to review and provide advice on models created by other functions. You’ll lead work assignments, challenge existing practices in DAS UK, and use and help other members of the team to improve their skills.
Whilst we’re looking for candidates who have a good knowledge of non-life actuarial techniques, such as pricing, reserving and solvency, this is a great opportunity to develop capabilities to cover a range of actuarial disciplines, communicate clearly and foster productive working relationships with the wider business.
As well as the collaborative aspects, you can expect to run regular actuarial processes and models as well as monitor claims and exposure activity regularly. You will carry out actuarial investigations required under UK regulation and legislation, and by Group and investigate and recommend improvements to processes both within the department and beyond. In addition, you’ll secure agreement, build and monitor impacts of changes.
Furthermore you can expect to interpret and implement external regulations, company policies and professional standards as well as upholding the departmental quality procedures through selection of actuarial techniques and production of documentation.
