About The Role

DAS UK Group are looking for an attentive Junior Costs Draftsman to join our market-leading Legal Expenses Insurance business in central Bristol.

In this role, you will assess and negotiate solicitors’ costs claimed under our customers’ insurance policies, ensuring claims made match our terms and conditions. You will reach agreements that are cost effective and fair identifying unrecoverable costs on the standard basis.

This is a full time, permanent role, where we can offer a large degree of flexibility around remote working.

Further responsibilities of the role include:

  • Maintaining awareness of the customer experience through the claims lifecycle and ensuring that service delivery is maintained. Ensuring customer expectations and outcomes are made in a timely manner
  • Identifying exposures to leakage and potential unnecessary costs/loss of income in accordance with the department objectives
  • Liaising with colleagues and key stakeholders to investigate new ideas and initiatives to improve working practices and procedures
  • Ensuring that any communication to our customers and colleagues is dealt with in a clear, concise and honest manner whilst ensuring that it remains sensitive and empathic to the customers, businesses partners and suppliers needs
  • Understanding legal processes and documentation including T&C’s, the internal estimating process, cost risks to DAS, how to set accurate cost estimates, reinsurance and claims of interest, settlement offers, impact on costs implications to customer and/or DAS and effective negotiation with key individuals
About You

We are looking for individuals with the following skills & experience:

  • Experience of working in a costs environment for a minimum of 2 years (you may be a qualified costs lawyer (desirable not essential))
  • Experience of dealing with different types of legal matters is advantageous (desirable not essential)
  • Show initiative with the ability to work within a team environment but autonomously (managing own caseload) and ability to make effective decisions under pressure and deal with complex matters
  • Confidence to work with key stakeholders both internally and externally
  • A good  understanding of costs industry regulations and relevant case law
  • A good understanding of working within strict guidelines and FSA regulations
