The employment law department at DAS Law is well established and is currently made up of around 30 Solicitors/Chartered Legal Executives, Paralegals, Graduates and Legal Assistants. We have an exciting opportunity for an operational Senior Associate Solicitor to join our team.

About the Role

Whilst the employment law department operates from offices based in central Bristol and in Bedwas, South Wales, we are able to consider candidates from further afield due to a revolutionary agile working initiative which the business has championed from 2021.

This is a permanent position; 35 hours per week. Applications from those preferring flexible or part-time hours will also be considered. 

As an operational Senior Associate, your role is crucial to ensure the success of the business by managing performance, success of our fee earners through mentoring and development, and for the service our customers receive. You will join our dynamic management team which is made up of a Partner, Principal Associates and Senior Associates.

You can look forward to leading a team who handle a diverse and challenging contentious caseload; we act on behalf of Claimants and Respondents from the very point a dispute arises right through to trial so no two days are ever the same. In the role of a Senior Associate, you can expect to:

  • Lead, motivate and support a team of fee earners in order for them to meet their objectives and to provide the high standard of service to our customers that we strive to achieve;
  • Develop open, honest and supportive relationships with team members to identify ongoing development opportunities and ultimately retain talent;
  • Provide sound technical advice, training and supervision to a team and the wider department on all areas of employment law;
  • Manage a small caseload of complex contentious matters; and
  • Support and participate in business development work

What We Do

The employment law department deals with all aspects of employment law, from advising an employee on pursuing an unfair dismissal claim, or a claim for unpaid wages, to defending claims of whistleblowing and discrimination on behalf of Respondents. Whilst we have longstanding relationships with various Chambers across the Country, we conduct our own advocacy on a regular basis.

As well as acting for employees and employers during the litigation process, we also provide advisory HR services such as drafting contracts and policies, or providing a business with guidance and support to businesses through the complexity of employment law requirements.

About You

About You

We would love to hear from candidates ideally with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in employment litigation, who can demonstrate the following knowledge, experience and skills:

  • Prior experience of supervising and/or managing a team;
  • The ability to work collaboratively;
  • An excellent working knowledge of employment law and procedure;
  • The ability to manage a contentious caseload; and
  • Excellent client care skills
