Location:

Vacancy Type:

Department:
Employment
About The Role

Who We Are:

DAS Law is a unique law firm for many reasons, the very first being that we form part of the DAS UK Group which has been helping businesses and individuals gain access to justice for over 40 years. The DAS UK Group includes both a legal expense insurance company and a law firm – DAS Law. Together, our customers receive an outstanding service which we are proud to provide.

At DAS Law we specialise in employment law, personal injury, litigation and dispute management, and business and commercial matters. We also offer our customers access to a legal advice line.

The employment law department at DAS Law is well established and is currently made up of around 40 Solicitors/Chartered Legal Executives, Paralegals, Graduates and Legal Assistants. We are continuing to expand and as part of that expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Solicitor.

About the Role:

Whilst the employment law department operates from offices based in central Bristol and in Bedwas, South Wales, we are able to consider candidates from further afield due to a revolutionary agile working initiative which the business has championed from 2021.

This is a permanent position; 35 hours per week. Applications from those preferring part-time hours will also be considered.

As Associate Solicitor you can look forward to a diverse and challenging contentious caseload; we act on behalf of Claimant’s and Respondent’s from the very point a dispute arises right through to trial so no two days are ever the same. You can also look forward to a department which boosts a wealth of experience, unrivalled support and opportunities to grow and develop which are actively encouraged. You can also immerse yourself into the fun and friendly social activities regularly organised by the department and by the wider business.

What We Do:

The employment law department deals with all aspects of employment law, from advising an employee on pursuing an unfair dismissal claim, or a claim for unpaid wages, to defending claims of whistleblowing and discrimination on behalf of Respondents. Whilst we have longstanding relationships with various Chambers across the Country, we conduct our own advocacy on a regular basis.

As well as acting for employees and employers during the litigation process, we also provide advisory HR services such as drafting contracts and policies, or providing a business with guidance and support to businesses through the complexity of employment law requirements.

We encourage early responsibility with a real emphasis on creating opportunities to promote our lawyers from within the team; you can expect to join an organisation that will challenge and develop you to progress your career in ways that traditional law firms cannot. As a business we have a ‘career pathway’ in place which will enable you to develop in your career all the while becoming an expert in employment law and the skills required in the role such as with negotiating. We are also committed to supporting continued professional development and promote both internal Training Contracts and alternative routes to qualification.

By giving you every opportunity to develop yourself professionally and personally, we also pride ourselves on having an open, inclusive and high energy culture that encourages a fun working environment and places our customers at the very heart of everything we do.

About The Company
DAS Law is part of the DAS UK Group, which in turn forms part of the Ergo Group. We are therefore part of the world’s largest insurance group. Previously existing as a standalone law firm (CW Law) DAS Law was acquired by DAS UK Group in 2013 and is a key part of the Group’s strategy, forecast to provide year on year profitable growth within our 10 year strategy, which was agreed and commenced in 2016.

We have historically focussed on delivering legal services to customers solely via our Legal Expenses Insurance products, which provides a steady workload of litigated cases into the following teams that currently exist;

  • Personal Injury

  • Litigation & Dispute Management

  • Employment

  • Business & Commercial

Whilst this will remain a key part of our ongoing strategy, with the full support of our shareholders we have big ambitions to grow DAS Law as an independent income generating law firm and a major player in the legal market. We will do this by building on our existing relationships and reputation to grow new and sustainable income revenue streams that will allow us to expand the services we offer our customers.

We believe these are exciting times for DAS Law as part of the wider DAS UK Group and we are looking for likeminded individuals who share our ambition to make our high quality legal solutions accessible and affordable.

You can expect to join an organisation that will challenge and develop you to progress your career in ways that traditional law firms cannot. We are also committed to supporting continued professional development and promote both internal Training Contracts and alternative routes to qualification (CILEX).

By giving you every opportunity to develop yourself professionally and personally, we also pride ourselves on having an open, inclusive and high energy culture that encourages a fun working environment and places our customers at the very heart of everything we do.

If you are keen to become part of our exciting future then we would love to hear from you. In addition to the very genuine development opportunities we provide we also offer an extremely generous reward and benefits package.
