Head of Technical Claims - Job Share

About The Role

DAS UK Group have an exciting opportunity to join our market-leading legal expenses insurance business in central Bristol as a Head of Technical Claims on a part-time, job-share basis (looking for 2 or 3 days per week). In this role, you will take ownership of the development and governance of the overall Technical Claims strategy, leading and developing initiatives focused on Indemnity optimisation & technical competency, driving improvement in operational & supplier performance.

Further responsibilities of the role include:

  • Overseeing complex and high risk claims, providing support and guidance for the operational claims teams to escalate certain cases where decision making is required
  • Overseeing the approach to claims leakage, Indemnity optimisation and preventing claims fraud
  • Providing in-depth technical guidance to other business units, including technical leadership in the product
  • Conducting monitoring, analysis and reporting of key performance drivers and emerging claims trends
  • Maintaining the audit and oversight strategy of the operational claims teams (including outsourced claims arrangements), monitoring file reviews and feeding into performance reviews
  • Overseeing the management of the in-house Costing Team
  • Identify and flag fraud risks, and escalate to the Financial Crimes Officer where appropriate
About You

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Professional claims expertise gained through experience of working at a management level
  • In-depth technical knowledge, sufficient to represent the company in external discussions including market forums
  • People management and leadership experience including previous success with managing teams and driving high performance
  • Willing and able to lead by example and also adopt a practical hands-on approach
  • Experience of influencing and effective collaboration with functions and stakeholders outside of immediate control
  • Communication and relationship building skills including inspiring trust and influencing; constructively challenging points of view; communicating information in a clear and commercial manner; adapting style and content for different audiences
